Complexe cinématographique

Schiltigheim (67) | France

UK : This project involves the conversion of the Malterie (maltings) and the Palais Fischer. The idea presented in the development plan is to create a lively and attractive venue to appeal to people of all ages. The mixed-use programme includes a cinema, cafés, restaurants, shops and offices. It invites users not only to enjoy these activities but also to remember the history of Schiltigheim as a centre for brewing. These educational and social parameters are essential to the dynamic and sustainable development of the new district. Open-air screenings can be held, with films projected onto the north façade of the former maltings. The Palais Fischer will be used for purposes that remain to be determined. Three extensions to the maltings are being constructed in harmony with the existing building in terms of their size. The memory of the site as a brewery is at the core of the project, and is expressed via attentive architectural details in the interior. Valves from the former silos are still present on the ceilings of the two auditoriums and the exhibition room, and the dome-roofed malt kilns will house the cafeteria and an auditorium.
